The sun can cause the skin to age prematurely. Here are some ways to help prevent that from happening.

  1. AVOID SUN EXPOSURE
The best way to avoid photoaging is to completely avoid sun exposure from 10 am to 4 pm, or when your shadow is shorter than your height.

  2. USE SUNSCREEN
If sun exposure cannot be avoided, use a broad-spectrum sunscreen that can block both UVA and UVB rays and with at least SPF 30. Apply liberally on the face, neck, ears, and hands, and re-apply every 2-3 hours. Re-apply more often if there’s heavy sweating or if submerged in water.

  3. ANTI-UV CLOTHES
Choose anti-UV clothes that are designed for outdoor sports, whenever applicable.

  4. LONG CLOTHING
Wear long pieces of clothing to limit the amount of skin exposed.

  5. THICK GARMENTS
Wear clothing with thick material and a tighter weave to minimize the penetration of UV rays.

  6. DARK CLOTHES'
Wear dark-colored garments as dark colors repel UV rays better than light-colored ones.

  7. SUNGLASSES
Wear sunglasses with UV protection to protect the eyes from solar radiation and prevent the eyes from squinting too much. Squinting can lead to wrinkles at the outer corners of the eye (crow’s feet).

  8. HATS
Wear broad-brimmed hats to cover the face and neck.

  9. COSMETICS WITH SPF
Use cosmetic products (lip balm/lipstick, foundation, body lotion) that contain broad-spectrum sunscreen and has SPF 30.

  10. NO TANNING
    Avoid tanning beds.
